#SmallsForSmalls Events - Small Charity Week 23 to 28 June 2025

An unfunded, ad hoc series of free, fun events organised by the smalls themselves, during Small Charity Week, with support from their friends.

#SmallsForSmalls events will run 23 to 28 June but aren't part of the formal Small Charity Week programme.  They are an unfunded, ad hoc series of informative and fun fringe events organised by the smalls themselves, with support from their friends, to help and promote the fantastic work of all small charities.  All smalls are invited - registered charities, social enterprises/CICs and community groups, including micro charities and IDOs.  All events are free.

Ground Rules

Anyone can attend an event but priority will always be given to small non profits, if there is limited availability.

For contributors, the time and any financial costs will be met by those organising events/activities.  Any event/activity must be free, and of interest to a reasonable number or segment of smalls. It's fine to say who you are and what you do and it's OK to include your branding, website, contact details etc on slides, but you must not use it as an opportunity to promote your company, goods or services.  In participating, all contributors accept that they remain fully responsible for every aspect of their event, will ensure it is safely and well run, complies with all legal and regulatory requirements and, in the unlikely event of a problem, will deal with it, including accepting full responsibility for any claims or complaints arising from it.

Charity Excellence Topics That Could be Provided

  • Creating a fundraising strategy – you don’t need to pay a consultant to create your fundraising strategy because the important stuff is what you know. What a strategy is and how to do it yourself in simple steps to improve your fundraising and grow income streams.  It's available as a video (42 mins) on our You Tube Channel.  Download the supporting toolkit from the Income questionnaire.
  • How to Find Funding in Tough Times – the fundraising outlook, diversifying income, how to choose the best grants directories and lots of ways to find new funders, including Charity Excellence tips & tricks and those used by the professionals.  It's available as a video (34 mins) on our You Tube Channel.
  • Governance made simple - there’s a huge amount written about this but there isn’t even an agreed definition of what charity governance is. The key is to understand and apply the fundamentals. Ian has filled various chair and CEO appointments over the last 25 years and he built the Charity Excellence governance assessment system.  This webinar shows you what you need to know and do to apply that successfully.  It's available as a video (42 mins) on our You Tube Channel.
  • How to Choose the Right Non-profit Structure. Types of non-profit, questions to ask yourself, how to set up a CIC, how to set up a charity, the differ types of charity and how to decide which would be best for you.
Some topics that Vic Hancock Fell could do
  • The Small Charity MOT - interactive workshop
